i’ve always loved this.

you have by far the bestest friends in the world anyone could ever ask for. and the bestest sister, if only she was available to chat or talk on the phone (hint hint).

i bought a pair of shoes yesterday. and was tempted to buy another pair. but i didn’t get the latter pair. thing is, right now i’m regretting the first pair. i love it very much and all, but i realized it’s not really what i REALLY NEED at this moment in time. at this moment in time, i really need a comfortable pair of flats (which are not too flat) or a comfortable pair of heels. maybe wedges, or those not too tall. so i wouldn’t feel like i’m towering over everyone. not a great feeling yo.

i also bought a liquid eyeliner yesterday. i’ve always had faith in Revlon eyeliners. i’ve used their liquid eyeliner and (automatic) pencil eyeliner before, and both tend to smudge less throughout the day, compared to/with other brand eyeliners.

okay digressing, i said “compared to/with” because i can never remember which is for which purpose. i literally have to google it each time i need to use it in assignments. but right now… CBF.

back to topic at hand, okay so i purchased a..well, Revlon liquid eyeliner in a felt-tip applicator thingamajig. swatches were so awesome! literally lasts forever. okay just so you know what i’m talking about, here are some pictures:

so i tried the new thingy out when i got home – okay it’s called Revlon Colorstay Liquid Eye Pen. but then i had to do some chores after. it lasts through sweaty chores yo! then i took a shower, having had to attend a family/church dinner and a little birthday gathering after (I LOVE YOU ERICA MAK). eyeliner on. for some reason there were smudges at the end of the..well, alco session. a little on the top and a little on the bottom. can’t say it was my mascara, it usually lasts longer than that. could be the eyeliner. then again, at that point i’ve had the eyeliner on for 6 hours when it started to show signs of smudging.

still, i was shocked to see smudges, because you know, liquid eyeliners shouldn’t. at least i don’t expect them to. the first Revlon liquid eyeliner i had lasted longer than that. then again application is easier with this felt-tip thingy. so…guess you can’t get the best of both worlds. the original one lasts forever but could be intimidating to use (since it’s the usual nylon brush), this felt-tip one is so easy to use but doesn’t last as long, but while it lasts it looks so awesome – perfectly defined, and a very intense black! but it definitely lasts longer than the pencil one, i must say.

in a nutshell, i think this eyeliner’s great for those wanting to switch from pencil/kohl to liquid eyeliners. the applicator is quite amazing! compared to/with other brands. some of them are either too watery, taking forever to dry. others have tips that are too soft, making it easier to make mistakes. that sucks yo.

so yeah. the only complaint i have is that it doesn’t last more than 6 hours or so. but since it looks amazing while it lasts, i can’t really say much. at only RM35… <3

p.s. i’ll further update if i change my mind about this eyeliner.

p.p.s. really wanted to post a picture of the shoes i bought, but i can’t seem to find it on the brand’s website. it must be that out of season! shall post it if i do wear ‘em and happen to take a picture. meanwhile, i really do need to shop. while we’re at it, i also really need funds. WHAII =S

okay first of all, it HAS been a while hasn’t it?

second of all, hOMG hOMG i’m so amazed at how awesomely the embedded video fits on this posts bar! either the designer of my layout/skin is that awesome, or youtube just has an amazing collaboration with wordpress. WORDPRESS FTW!

okay just go clarify, hOMG means h-OMG! like. how some ppl say “hokay” or something. so it doesn’t denote homogeneous groups or homogeneity of variance or whatever. okay maybe that’s just how it looks like to me. okay i just finished an econometrics paper, so. heh. hOMG my exams are over!

in any case, back to topic at hand. i’m posting this as a.. sorta like a motivation, force-myself-to-achieve-it kinda thingy. i don’t fancy this particular cover per se, makes me feel like the essence of the song has disappeared into the sea of jazzy awesomeness. nevertheless, i’m totally loving the jazz piano skills.

okay pardon my bad blogging language, it’s really been a while. screw trying to sound sophisticated and deep for now. not that i’ve had that much success anyway -_-

but! my point is, i shall attempt to incorporate at least a small portion of this jazzy essence into..whatever it is i do. i don’t know what it’s called. some label it as “goreng”, but i personally don’t fancy that term. at all.

hmph. well, what else is new with me? i’ve just finished my papers! okay i’ve mentioned that. but still. woot! call me up for drinks?

now, i’d like to talk to you about my name. as we all know, it’s spelled as CLARYN.

i grew up learning my name as CLARE-REEN. right or wrong, it’s what i’ve learnt to know and love. most of my family members and BFFs fondly call me CLARE. as for others, they call me CLARE-REEN or, as soon as they’d realize that it can be shortened to CLARE, they’d call me that instead. no wait, it’d be spelled as CLAIRE. well, there isn’t really an “I” you can derive from my name, so i’d leave it as CLARE.

when i went to college, i met more people outside my neighbourhood circle (in terms of sharing the same accent), and learnt that some people may naturally address me as CLUH-REEN. but similarly, they’d call me CLARE, or CLAIRE, as soon as we got close enough.

when i went for my one-year stint in the land down under, i tried to introduce myself as CLARE from the start, but as soon as they found out that my name was CLARYN, they immediately started calling me CLAR’N. if that spelling makes sense. then after half a year, my sister came over to visit and ended up staying for almost two months. seeing that my sister went almost everywhere i went, most of my friends got to know her too, and soon enough, they’d call me CLARE too.

now, back here, no one calls me CLAR’N anymore. most address me as CLARE, or CLAIRE, but quite seldom the latter. there’re still people calling me CLUH-REEN. i do try to introduce myself as CLAR’N most of the time, in hopes that most people will realize that it can indeed be shortened to CLARE. well, people would be more inclined to notice the “CLARE” in “CLAR’N” rather than “CLUH-REEN”, right? and besides, “CLAR’N” is kinda..cool, i suppose. makes me feel like a classy, independent, empowered woman, for some reason. heh.

okay, so yeah, i prefer CLARE or CLAR’N to CLUH-REEN. but to be honest, i’m really sincerely okay with that pronunciation, especially if you’re more comfortable with it, and i’d definitely answer to it. but omg, there are some people……despite me introducing myself as CLAR’N, or CLARE, or even if one of my BFFs conspicuously address me as CLARE in front of said some people, they still call me CLUH-REEN confidently and worst of all, arrogantly! i mean, sweetie, it’s my name, so despite whatever pronunciation you think is right for its spelling, i get to decide what my name’s supposed to sound like! you really shouldn’t try to CORRECT ME when i spell my name out for you after you can’t seem to catch it when i introduce myself to you. okay if the previous sentence didn’t make sense, think:

hi! i’m claryn.

hi carrie! i’m blabla.

claryn.

caryn?

claryn.

clarie?

claryn.

clarese.

CLARYN.

how do you spell that?

C-L-A-R-Y-N.

oh but shouldn’t it be cluh-reen!

but point is, i suspect that American English would hold CLARYN as CLUH-REEN, while British English would result in CLAR’N. whichever the case, whichever correct, i do prefer CLAR’N to CLUH-REEN. hence why i introduce myself as that these days. or CLARE-REEN, but a lot less often, and it feels almost nostalgic, sometimes. don’t know if that’s a good thing.

in a (ridiculously trivial) nutshell, call me CLARE (without the “I”).

here’s to wishing we were just a little more like them *toasts.

but i guess achievement is really a subjective matter. like, someone else might think i’ve achieved something in life. and someone else who’s more successful than me may be in the same rut i’m in now, wondering why he/she hasn’t achieved anything in life.

maybe when i graduate. maybe next semester. maybe i can travel the world. i hear all these stories about backpackers. i’d wanna do that too. but then again i probably can’t, because i’m just not the type. i hardly tolerate dirty toilets and i hate camping. and i’d really like to shower as and when i please. but i guess that’s just personal preference. i know a lot of people who don’t mind giving up certain basic necessities just to backpack for less. just to travel and see the world. just to experience what it’s like in another country. i’d want that too. but. just in a different way. but then again i, too, want to experience the backpacking life. and i’m just at the right age to do it. i don’t want to turn 30 and realize i have achieved nothing in life but a 9-5 job and a trapped lifestyle i despise. but backpacking’s just a..rather concrete example. there’re other things. like what entrepreneurs do. and those who made a difference. and those who did it differently.

will i ever be one of them?

sigh.

i guess the only thing i’m proud of right now is as the title goes. it’s something i enjoy. yeah, it’s not much, and they probably don’t know what i’m doing. but i try :/ the only thing that keeps me going is really them going “HAI TEACHER!” when they see me in church. and the little sincere waves. and hugs.

sigh.

and now, i’ve got one more to go, and i’m really not having much fun with it. it’s worth freakin’ 35%. i think this would be my largest non-exam assessment ever. and i thought 30% was large. okay yeah well, i know some people who’ve had 40% and 60% assignments, but, i didn’t sign up for that anyway. SO, OMG OMG 35% WHAIIII SOOO HUGEEEEE.

and it’s kinda confusing. i don’t know what they want. but then again, the last 3 assignments were kinda vague as well. it’s just that i have no more mental strength and determination to unvaguify these questions. GOD PLEASE HELP ME LIKE YOU DID THE LAST 3 ASSIGNMENTS.

anyhoooo. i’m confused. but it’s probably just because i’m stuck feeling like a prisoner with too much mental load. i need to go back to life as we know it, soon. and out of this ghost-like feeling.
